More Confirmation Bias This an old one I just noticed, but... XKCD #458 compares Google results for "I should have kissed him/her" and "I shouldn't have kissed him/her". There are 8 to 10 times more results for the first, leading us to think that maybe we should err on the side of kissing.
But this only looks at one half of the picture: people who didn't end up kissing whoever it is. We should also consider the other half, and compare Google results for "I'm glad I kissed him/her" and "I'm glad I didn't kiss him/her".
Results may vary based on region. For me, the two variants of "I'm glad I kissed" both bring up roughly 3000 results. On the other hand, "I'm glad I didn't kiss him" brings up 28000. And "I'm glad I didn't kiss her" only yields 6 pages. Six. Of these, two are identical and one is a discussion of the XKCD comic.
The moral of the story is: if you're considering kissing a girl, go ahead and kiss her and you probably won't regret it. If you're considering kissing a guy, think twice.
